Last Saturday I got the chance to test the new Model S from Tesla. It was the first time I drove an electric car. And what a car! That day was definitely a good one.

The number “85” stands for the battery size. The “D” stands for All-Wheel-drive. Model S 85D has the following specs:

  • 85 kWh battery with all-wheel drive
  • 270 miles range (EPA)
  • 4.4 seconds 0-60 mph
  • 422 hp
  • 155 mph (250 km/h) top speed

Unfortunately the 700 HP model (P85D with insane mode) was not available, so I had to use the “normal” 85D model. But also this model accelerates from 0 to 60 mph (100 km/h) in about 4.4 seconds. The feeling is like you are sitting on a roller coaster. Inside you don’t hear any noise. Also because of a large 17 inch screen you have the feeling of sitting in the cockpit of an aircraft. Due to the strict speed limit in Switzerland there is a high chance of losing your driving license because once you push the pedal to the metal, you drive faster than it’s allowed. 🙂
If you decide to buy a Tesla, you can charge your car at all Tesla Superchargers in about 20min to half and in about 40min to full level. And the best: It’s for free!
That’s definitely a nice move by Tesla. And comparing to other super sports car, the model costs only one third (in Swiss Francs that’s 85’500 for the model I tested).  This may still be a high amount, but considering the fact that you drive almost for free (25 miles cost around 1.02 USD), it may be cheaper in the end.
